The sixth and final day of international cycling race Tour of Croatia was scheduled for the 147 km long route connecting the cities of Samobor and Zagreb. The race ended with a spectacular climb in Mesnička Street which, according to the Tour of Croatia official report, was a difficult obstacle for pure sprinters and a tremendous opportunity for more complete riders to catch up some time in the finale and maybe win the race. The cyclingnews reported that Vicenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) sealed the overall victory in the Tour of Croatia, wresting the win from Jaime Roson (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) on the final stage. The Italian took the first intermediate sprint bonus to move ahead in the GC, and then gapped Roson in the finish to win the overall by eight seconds. Jan Hirt (CCC Sprandi Polkowice) rounded out the podium.
Congratulations to the winners and all the competitors of Tour of Croatia. Hopefully see you again next year!
